ALPHORN & STRING ENSEMBLE
In additional the original concerto by Leopold Mozart, my repertoire includes many works for Alphorn and string ensemble, little string ensemble is enough, and among these:
"Sinfonia Pastorella" by L. Mozart
"Concertino Rustico" by F. Farkas
"The great Horn of Helm" by G. D'Aquila
"Walpurgisnacht" by N. Hansalik Samale
"Un suono notturno" by A. Iafigliola
When you listen to the Alphorn with the strings, the beauty of the melody, the pleasant atmosphere, the purity of the sound are even more in evidence. |

ALPHORN & STRING QUARTET
Moreover, again with the strings, I can also play good music with string quartet. For this reason, some composers have adjusted their works for Alphorn and string quartet:
Giovanni D’Aquila (1966) - The great Horn of Helm (2003) for alphorn and string quartet
Leopold Mozart (1719-1787) - Sinfonia Pastorella (1755) for alphorn and string quartet
Antonio Iafigliola (1954) - Un suono notturno (1999) for alphorn and string quartet |

SOME INFORMATION ABOUT THE WORKS |
|
|
The great Horn of Helm
“The great Horn of Helm” was written for me by Giovanni D'Aquila and after the Primiere in the magical “Valle dei Templi” in Agrigento (Sicily-Italy),
I had the great pleasure to play it all over the world.
Just like the orchestra version the version with string quartet produces a fine atmosphere and the audience receives a great pleasure.
I performed the Premiere of “The great Horn of Helm” for Alphorn and string quartet in 2009 at the Pirano Chamber Music Festival (Slovenia) with the Salzburg Chamber Soloists Quartet.
Sinfonia Pastorella
Leopold Mozart was impressed by the magnificence of the Alphorn and he decided to include it in his “Sinfonia Pastorella”. This work is very appropriated for a chamber version and to be performer by an Alphorn and a string quartet.
I had the great emotion to play for the first time the string quartet version at Leopold Mozart Centrum in Augsburg, where Leopold Mozart was born.
Later I have performed this version on several occasions, and among these with Salzburg Chamber Soloists Quartet, Enesco Quartet, etc.
Un Suono Notturno
The compositions by Antonio Iafigliola characterized by an extreme essentiality of the material. His works have been performed in Europe, United States, South America, Egypt and Japan.
Iafigliola composed “Un suono notturno” (A night sound) for me in 1999 and I played the Premiere of the version for Alphorn and string quartet in 2001 at the prestigious Newport Music Festival (USA).
The composer descrive his work as: fews sounds, far away; and others, further still, perhaps. Impalpable, nevertheless distinctive, transparent. Hallucinations. The night, if wachful, can catch subtle impressions.
